I feel ripped off then! Every KH I've ever encountered in my life either had no windows, or just a tiny little square window in one of the doors in the back.

Unique but accurate observation about KHs from a "woldly" person
by Lady Zombie ini was out this weekend with a group of my "worldly" friends.
the majority of them don't know that i'd been a witness in the past, nor did they know that my family still is.. i'm not sure how we got on the subject of religions, but one guy asked, "what's the name of those people who don't have windows in their churches?".
several guesses were thrown out including amish and mennonites but he shook his head.

I was out this weekend with a group of my "worldly" friends. The majority of them don't know that I'd been a witness in the past, nor did they know that my family still is.
I'm not sure how we got on the subject of religions, but one guy asked, "What's the name of those people who don't have windows in their churches?"
Several guesses were thrown out including Amish and Mennonites but he shook his head. To help the group figure it out, he then added, "Oh you know, it's the people that knock on your door all the time."
"JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES!" the rest of the group shouted. "That's them" he added, then he asked, "I wonder why that is, why they don't have windows in their churches. Are they afraid of being bombed, or something?"
The one person in the group who does know about my history, looked at me. Randy, who had asked the original question noticed the glance and asked, "Are you one of those Jehovah's Witnesses?"
I told him, "Well, not any more. But you're right. Generally they don't have windows. Why? I couldn't tell you but I suspect that 1) they don't want the congregations daydreaming and staring out the window. They want their members' focus on the speakers at all time. If you stare out the window, you'll die at Armageddon, donchaknow! 2) JWs love being miserable. It's pretty miserable spending 2 hours in a windowless building. It's just part of the aesthetic. 3) These are bare bones basic buildings. Windows cost money. Their organization would much rather spend money on more practical things, like lawsuit defense. They have pedos and people who let kids die that were refused blood transfusions to defend! Bottom line, they're an whacked out religion. That's why there aren't any windows!
You could have heard a pin drop around our table.
Finally someone said, "Ok, well now we know not to ask Ms. Zombie here how she really feels about JWs! Sweetie, would you like a margarita?
I must say, that was a darn good margarita they bought me!

What is your strangest "supernatural" JW story?
by donny ini had just became a witness and a guy i worked with, who was also a jw, told me a story that actually made me laugh and i think it upset him a bit.
the storys were almost always in the third person.
it went as follows.. this brothers wife and him were sitting at the kingdom hall on the end seats of the row next to the back of the room.

I always wanted to get a Ouija board, hide it somewhere in my folks' KH (like up in the ceiling), leave it there about a year, then send an anonymous letter to the KH stating that there was a Ouija board over their heads for the last year and not one demon attack has occurred.
I didn't because I knew they would just think it was Jehovah protecting them and not because there are no demons.

The very oddest part was about 10 to 15 minutes devoted to the subject of "ectoplasm" - a sort of demon slime that could float around in the air and take on the suggestion of a ghostly shape. If the spell was broken, it would sort of collapse to the floor in sort of a demonic snot-pile. Wet Cleanup on Isle Four!
I know you were being serious, but I can't stop laughing.
Demonic snot-pile......hehehehehe

My mother got creepy feelings when she was out in service. She attributted the feeling to demons.
If she got gooseflesh when she approached a house, she wouldn't knock on the door because she said the householder or someone in the house was demon possessed.
She was very serious.

The practice of "Shepherding Calls" (attention ex-elders)
by Lady Zombie inthe practice of "shepherding calls" has always been somewhat of a mystery to me.. growing up, a shepherding call was for jws who were doing something that a few/some/most (didn't matter which) found stumbling or suspicious.
for instance, i remember my folks gossiping to each other about a jw couple who had been sloughing off the meetings in order to go dancing.
one of the congregation members (who were absent themselves on a particular night) saw them going into a dance club on a meeting night and promptly ran to an elder.

the witlesses wasted almost a whole month getting those things out, and dismally failed.
almost no one went because they got a waste of paper.

A printer I know says that the price of paper is going to soar since a main ingredient is starch and it is made from corn..........I wonder how high the paper price has to get and the WTS will have to cut back on printing?
This is another reason why I won't be surprised if the WTBTS starts having congregations print study edition WTs, OKM, and so on.
